Johnson was expected to be the first real test for Joshua, particularly given that the experienced American had never been stopped previously and was therefore expected to give him some rounds at least.
While he talked a good game and certainly gave Joshua something different to think about in the build-up, it wasn’t enough to change the script as the 25-year-old started landing heavy shots in the first round before ending the bout in the second.
So, the question now is who should he face next? Promoter Eddie Hearn will likely look to step him up another level later this year, with 2016 likely to be time for the young Brit to challenge for world titles.
