Paulinho says his agent was not in London discussing move to White Hart Lane.
Brazil international Paulinho has dismissed reports that his agent travelled to London to negotiate a summer move to Tottenham.
The 24-year-old Corinthians star admitted last week that his representative was in the capital, amid claims that Spurs were closing in on the midfielder’s signature.
But Paulinho, who scored for Brazil in Saturday’s 3-0 Confederations Cup win over Japan, claims his representative Giuliano Bertolucci was in the UK on other business.
“He is not negotiating. Giuliano has many clients. I am not the only one,” the midfielder is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“He is in England, admittedly, but he works for many players.
“They say that Giuliano is working for me to leave Corinthians, but that is not the case.
“He has his work with other players and I don’t understand why people persist with this story.”
Paulinho also netted in Brazil’s friendly draw with England last month and is one of a number of Brazilians being linked with a move to Spurs this summer.
Bernard Duarte of Atletico Mineiro and Internacional striker Leandro Damiao are also said to be interesting the north London outfit.
