Central midfield: Arturo Vidal (Chile) – Undoubtedly one of the finest midfield players in the world at the moment, Arturo Vidal would be one of the first names on the team sheet if he were Brazilian. After impressing greatly as a key member of Juventus’ last three Serie A title wins, the 27-year-old is now expected to attract some big-money offers from a host of top clubs in this summer’s transfer window. First, however, he will be hoping he can help Chile spring a surprise on Brazil in this evening’s last-16 clash.
Central midfield: Fernandinho (Brazil) – Not a regular starter for Brazil so far in the tournament, but the excellent Manchester City midfielder may have worked his way into Scolari’s plans with his fine substitute appearance against Cameroon earlier this week, which he marked with a well-taken goal. A defensive-minded player with great quality going forward as well, Fernandinho has shown he can do the business in the Premier League, finishing as a champion in his first season in England, and he will be hoping to make more of an impact at this competition now.
