Attacking midfield: Hulk (Brazil) – A slightly frustrating and inconsistent player perhaps, but Brazil wide-man Hulk is certainly a top talent capable of dazzling things on the football pitch when at his best. The Zenit Saint Petersburg attacker still looks better on paper than many of Chile’s attacking options, and will be hoping to improve on his form for Brazil so far.
Attacking midfield: Neymar (Brazil) – An obvious inclusion, Barcelona star Neymar has lived up to the hype for Brazil so far this summer, scoring four goals in the group stages to lead the World Cup scoring charts (joint with Lionel Messi and Thomas Mueller) and inspire his country through to the knockout round. The exciting 22-year-old will be one to watch again tonight as he continues to enhance his reputation on the biggest stage of all.
Attacking midfield: Oscar (Brazil) – The Chelsea playmaker is a vitally important player for Brazil, taking up the role that the legendary Kaka used to play, and pulling it off to perfection. The 22-year-old has one goal and two assists in the tournament so far, and is showing himself to be a world class performer for club and country.
Striker: Alexis Sanchez (Chile) – Not always played as a striker for his club side Barcelona, but Alexis Sanchez has excelled in that position for Chile, and certainly deserves his place in this XI ahead of Brazil’s somewhat underwhelming options upfront. The 25-year-old has just enjoyed a superb campaign in La Liga, and has done well in the World Cup so far with one goal and one assist.
