Germany predicted XI:
Germany manager Joachim Lowe could tweak his side slightly from the one that beat France 1-0 in the quarter-finals.
In goal, Neuer will definitely start barring a late injury, but Lowe could recall Arsenal owned Per Mertesacker alongside the continually impressive Mats Hummels in central defence.
Mertesacker badly lacks pace, but now Neymar isn’t playing for Brazil – Brazil do not have speedy options up top, and the giant German centre-back will be able to deal with the aerial threat of Fred. This means Jerome Boateng can start ahead of the shaky Benedikt Howedes at left-back, and captain Philipp Lahm should remain on the right of the defence as he did against France – instead of in holding midfield.
With Lahm in his more natural fullback role, Lowe should start with a midfield three of Sami Khedira, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Toni Kroos once again – matching Brazil’s expected formation.
Miroslav Klose started up top last time out, but was hauled off early after a poor performance, meaning four goal Thomas Mueller could return to spearhead the side, with Mest Ozil and Mario Goetze potentially being used on the flanks. Both will look to cut in and crowd the midfield – or play intricate through-balls to overlapping fullbacks.
