Brazil legend Roberto Carlos has revealed that he came close to joining Chelsea in 2007.
The former Real Madrid left-back won the 1998 World Cup, four La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies during his decorated career, but never played in the Premier League.
But Carlos has told how he nearly made it to English shores when Avram Grant was in charge of Stamford Bridge.

When asked by Squawka if he ever came close to moving to the Premier League, the 42-year-old replied: “Yes, with Chelsea under Avram Grant [in 2007].”
He ended up moving to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce in the same year.
Ashley Cole was Chelsea’s first-choice left-back at time and it would have been intriguing to see two of the best players in their position of all time compete for a starting spot with the Blues.
