The news comes after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger ruled out a deadline day deal for Schalke’s Julian Draxler but said he was ’80 per cent’ confident of a new arrival before the window shuts at 11pm.

Kallstrom, 31, is hugely experienced, having played over 300 games for Rennes and Lyon in an eight-year spell in France as well as racking up over 100 caps for Sweden.
He made the Swedish squad for the Euro 2004, 2006 World Cup, Euro 2008 and Euro 2012 tournaments.
The playmaker, who can play defensive midfield or a more advanced role, joined Spartak in July 2012 but has only made 30 league appearances for the Russians.
