McLaren are expected to name Jenson Button alongside Fernando Alonso as its driver pairing for 2015, according to reports.
The UK outfit will confirm its lineup on Thursday at 10am.
McLaren had been poised to announce the driver pairing last week after a board meeting, however the team’s chiefs failed to come to an agreement on whether they should go with the 2009 world champion or 22-year-old Kevin Magnussen.
“Button has been given a remarkable reprieve after McLaren decided that his Formula One career will continue into a 16th season with a race seat for 2015,” reports The Telegraph.
“Sources said that repeated delays by McLaren in making an official announcement indicated the pendulum has swung in the 34-year-old’s favour.”
McLaren are the only confirmed team on the grid who are yet to formally announce its driver lineup for 2015.
