San Francisco 49ers DT Ray McDonald will no longer have the specter of a formal assault charge hanging over his head as authorities today announced that charges of domestic violence would not be filed.
According to Shelley Smith of ESPN, the Santa Clara County district attorney has declined to file charges against McDonald because of a lack of evidence.

McDonald was arrested on August 31, 2014 on suspicion of felony domestic abuse following an incident that occurred at his San Jose home. A police report noted “visible injuries” to an alleged victim, who was not identified by police but is believed to be McDonald’s fiancée.
