Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was indicted for allegedly murdering Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee.
His trial began on Thursday, and opening statements were made from both sides. The prosecution stated that Lloyd had been lured to a secluded area by Hernandez and two accomplices before being shot six times.
Lloyd’s body was left behind after being killed. The defense shared their own side of the story, claiming that the evidence against Hernandez is circumstantial while the murder was not pre-meditated since Hernandez had no motive to kill Lloyd.
