In a surprising move, the Buffalo Bills have announced that they have benched starting QB E.J. Manuel and will start Kyle Orton at QB vs. the Detroit Lions.
Manuel, who the Bills drafted No. 16 overall in the 2013 NFL draft, has started all 4 games this season and began with an upset win over the heavily favored Chicago Bears followed by a dominating win over the Miami Dolphins to give the Bills sole possession of first place. But in the last two weeks Manuel’s completion rates have fallen dramatically, and in Sunday’s loss to the Texans he completed only 48% of his passes.
Orton last started in the season finale for the Dallas Cowboys after Tony Romo was hurt. He signed with the Buffalo Bills after un-retiring for the second year in a row.
