Florida Florida State preview
Colorado State head coach Jim McElwain has officially been named the new Florida head coach, replacing the departed Will Muschamp.
Muschamp had led the Gators to an 11-2 record in the 2012 season, but every other season in his stint at Florida has been either mediocre or bad.
The head coach decided to pack his bags effective immediately following the 2014 season, creating one of the most high-profile head coaching searches in college football.
McElwain became well-known for his performance at Colorado State, where he has led his team to a 10-2 record in just his third season after inheriting a 3-9 team.
He also had previous success at Alabama, where he served as the offensive coordinator under Nick Saban and helped lead the Crimson Tide to two national titles.
He also helped Colorado State become a threatening offensive team as they scored at least 38 points in six of their games this season.
Someone with his ability to transform an offense is exactly what Florida needs after enduring an era with struggling quarterback Jeff Driskel.
