Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota became the first player in school history to take home the Heisman Trophy as he received 788 of 874 of the first-place votes in a landslide.
Mariota has led the Ducks to a No. 2 ranking this season, and their offense has continued to be one of the most dangerous in college football. The quarterback threw 38 touchdown passes with just two interceptions while rushing for another 14 and catching one.
This brought his total to 53, and the Ducks are a serious favorite to win it all thanks to his play. Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon finished second while Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper finished third.
Although they weren’t finalists, TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin and Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett also received plenty of votes and rounded out the top five.
