The Pittsburgh Steelers have released RB LeGarrette Blount from the team, less than 18 hours after he reportedly left the game against the Tennessee Titans early over lack of playing time.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported earlier that Blount, who was held without a carry for the first time this season against the Titans , was upset with his lack of playing time.
“Blount has been an internal problem for at least a month,” according to the piece by Ed Bouchette, adding some players want the team to release him “because of his poor attitude.”
In Week 3 Blount had 113 yards rushing on Sunday Night against the Carolina Panthers, but in Week 10 against New York, Blount was held to zero yards on five carries.
In 2013 Blount was trade to the New England Patriots from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That year he recorded a career high 7 TDs and 5.04 yards/carry. His success in New England earned him a big free agent contract with the Steelers, but with the emergence of Le’Veon Bell, he has not been given a single start this season.
