The Seattle Seahawks advanced to the NFC Championship with a 31-17 win over the Carolina Panthers as quarterback Russell Wilson threw three touchdown passes.

The Seattle Seahawks kept their hopes of repeating as Super Bowl champions alive with a 31-17 victory at home over the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers were able to stay competitive for most of the game despite being clear underdogs. They trailed, 17-10, at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but quarterback Russell Wilson extended the lead with a touchdown pass to tight end Luke Willson.
Strong safety Kam Chancellor put the nail in the coffin with a 90-yard interception return touchdown. The Panthers scored a garbage-time touchdown before the game ended.
For the Seahawks, Wilson put on a fantastic performance by throwing for 268 yards and three touchdown passes on 15-of-22 passing, and wide receiver Jermaine Kearse caught three passes for 129 yards and a touchdown.
The majority of his yards came on a 63-yard touchdown catch. Chancellor and cornerback Richard Sherman each came up with interceptions.
Meanwhile, Newton had a respectable performance against the vaunted Seahawks defense with 246 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions on 23-of-36 passing.
Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin caught seven passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns.
The Seahawks will face the winner of Sunday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship.
