Stoke v Liverpool confirmed teams: Steven Gerrard captains Reds in final game
They were defeated badly, 6-1, by Stoke City, and manager Brendan Rodgers now finds himself on the hot seat.
The Reds fell to sixth place due to a Tottenham win over Everton, and they have finished with 62 points.
Due to the brutality of this loss, Rodgers is in serious danger of losing his job, and he has already accepted his fate.
“I have always said if the owners want me to go I will go. But I still feel I have a lot of offer here. There is a lot that’s happened there this year that has made the job tough. Performances like today don’t help me and I’m fully aware of that,” Rodgers said to ESPN FC.
It will be difficult for Rodgers to explain Liverpool’s loss to Stoke City since his team allowed five goals in the first half.
Rodgers chose to leave Raheem Sterling out of the lineup, likely due to his intention to leave the team after this season.
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard ended his Reds career on a positive note though, as he scored the lone goal of the game for his team.
