Liverpool are still undefeated after three Premier League matches this season, but lost their 100% start following a scoreless draw against Arsenal tonight.
Despite not coming away with a win due to world-class saves by Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, manager Brendan Rodgers had nothing but positive comments about Liverpool’s performance.
“I thought we were outstanding, we showed everything. You heard Petr Cech getting a round of applause for the saves we made,” Rodgers said, according to BBC Sport. “Overall we kept a good clean sheet but disappointed we didn’t win. It is about keeping really well organised.”
Liverpool were unfortunate not to score a goal, with Philippe Coutinho hitting the woodwork twice and Christian Benteke going close, but the Reds still have reason to breathe a sigh of relief.
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey had a goal wiped out by an incorrect offside call in the first half, although the Reds’ defence generally shone and they have still not conceded a single goal this season.
Liverpool have a golden opportunity to stay undefeated on Saturday as they play West Ham United.
