The 25-year-old only just regained his fitness following a series of injuries that have kept him on the sidelines since the end of August. He marked his return to the side with a goal in the Reds’ 3-0 win over West Brom on the weekend.
However, it looks like despite this great start post injury, it is unlikely he will be able to start the ‘friendly derby’. The England international may get a chance to make an impact from the bench though.
The Northern Irishman said, “He’s very determined to make up for missing five months of the season but he’s also realistic as well, looking after his fitness.”
He added, “He had 25 minutes at the weekend, looked very sharp and we want to build that up over the weeks.”
