And Rodgers has warned the England international that he even stands to miss out on £3.38 million in wages next season if he fails to pen a new contract.
The Reds boss has continuously reiterated that Sterling will not be sold over the summer, and his position in the matter was backed up by the Fenway Sports Group the weekend, who have insisted they will leave him on his current salary of £35,000 per week rather than sell him to Manchester City when talks resume at the end of the season.
Talks between the two over an extended deal began back in October, but so far Sterling has shelved talks of a £65,000 per week extension.
“We’ve made our position clear from the beginning and the owners are very much supportive of that. Raheem won’t be going anywhere this summer, even if there’s not a deal agreed,” Rodgers said.
