Levis has had a successful season with Victoria Highlanders FC.
Canadian midfielder/striker Brett Levis has been handed a weeks trial at the Vancouver Whitecaps. Twenty year-old Levis arrives in Vancouver after a successful season with Victoria Highlanders FC in the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League.
Last season Levis scored 12 goals and completed six assists in 16 appearances with the PDL Western Conference champions. He also scored nine and completed six assists while playing for the University of Sasketchewan Huskies, who finished second in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Canada West. After this success Levis was recognised as a Canada West first-team all-star and CIS second-team all-Canadian.
Whitecaps FC coach Martin Rennie said Levis did well on his first day of the tryouts but will reserve judgement until he has had more time to settle in. The tryout will end on August 27th, meaning he will be available for selection for Monday’s MLS Reserve League match against Seattle Sounders.
The Whitecaps have an important weekend ahead of them when they head to the StubHub Centre to play LA Galaxy, where they will hope to improve on last week’s result – a 2-0 loss to the Colorado Rapids.
