Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett has ruled out signing former Broncos forward Neville Costigan ahead of the 2015 NRL season.
Costigan is currently without a club after being granted an early release from English Super League side Hull KR.
Hull are reportedly requesting an $80,000 transfer fee from the Broncos in order to secure the 29-year-old, and Bennett says he is not interested.
“I’ve heard a few clubs are interested but Nev will not be at the Broncos,” Bennett told The Courier Mail.
“Nev has been here before but his best years are behind him unfortunately and that’s the way it is. If someone else wants him, that’s their prerogative, and I wish him well.
“I had some brief chats with Nev about his future but he isn’t coming to the Broncos … that’s the bottom line.”
Bennett has coached Costigan at three different NRL clubs at the Broncos, Newcastle Knights and St George Illawarra, but reportedly could no fit him under the salary cap.
