The 46-year-old joins from A-League rivals Adelaide United
Brisbane Roar have announced the appointment of Luciano Trani as assistant coach to Mike Mulvey.
The 46-year-old has a wealth of A-League experience having been second in command at Wellington Phoenix for two-years before spending the 2011/12 season in the dugout at Adelaide United, where he served under ex-Socceroos striker John Kosmina.
He’s also undertaken coaching spells with lesser known clubs Brisbane Strikers, Whittlesea Zebras, and Essendon Royals, which are sandwiched between two stints at Fawkner Blues across a four year period.
It was rumoured last month that Trani would be joining the back-room staff at the Suncorp Stadium ahead of the 2013/14 campaign and he thanked his new employers for giving him the chance to return to Australia’s elite division as Mulvey’s deputy.
“I’d like to thank Brisbane for giving me the opportunity to come back to the A-League,” Trani told Fox Sports.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Mike and the rest of the coaching staff
“I’ll be looking at things I can add that might be of benefit to the team and coaching staff.
“I still have fond memories of my time here (with the Strikers) and it’s been great bumping into some familiar faces.”
