After the New York Jets finished with a 4-12 record, owner Woody Johnson made a move that was expected for a long time as he fired head coach Rex Ryan.

Ryan has since accepted the head coaching position with the Buffalo Bills. While this may signal to some that Ryan is looking to spite the Jets for letting him go, the defensive mastermind insists that he holds no hard feelings toward Jets owner Woody Johnson.
“He’s almost like a big brother and he was outstanding … but he had no choice, he had to fire me. He had to blow it up to start again. He couldn’t justify bringing me back again,” Ryan said to NFL Total Access.
The Jets offense was unable to get going as quarterback Geno Smith continued to struggle, and the lack of receiving weapons continued to be alarming.
The team fixed this by trading for wide receiver Brandon Marshall, and they beefed up their pass defense by signing cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, who will be experiencing a New York reunion.
Ryan will have a talented defense to work with in Buffalo, but it remains to be seen how he can handle their question marks at quarterback.
