Initially viewed as a draft bust by the Indianapolis Colts, who drafted him No. 31 overall in the 2010 NFL draft, Hughes was cut by the Colts after the 2012 season and signed with the Buffalo Bills under former head coach Doug Marrone the following year – and the results were immediately impressive.
Hughes recorded 10.0 sacks in each of his first two seasons with Buffalo and helped the Bills lead the NFL in sacks in 2014 alongside Pro Bowlers DE Mario Williams, DT Marcel Dareus and DT Kyle Williams.
With 20.0 sacks since joining the Bills in 2013, Hughes is also tied for 9th in the NFL in sacks over the last two seasons.
