Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins gave his vote of confidence to struggling QB EJ Manuel, who is expected to compete for the Bills starting job in 2015.
In an interview with Chris Brown of the Buffalo Bills official website, Watkins expressed his belief in Manuel, who has struggled to live up to the expectations of being a first-round pick by the Bills back in 2013.
Sammy on EJ, “That’s my guy. I believe in him 100% & I told him that whether he’s the starter or not. He’s a totally different guy.” #Bills

Watkins emerged as one of the many young stud receivers from the 2014 draft class and quickly emerged as one of the best receivers in the AFC East. The former No. 4 overall draft pick finished the season with 982 receiving yards on 65 receptions along with 6 TDs.
Manuel was drafted No. 16 overall by the Bills in 2013 and played well sporadically as a rookie, recording a passer rating of 85 or higher in half of his games that year. But Manuel was benched after four games in 2014 due to poor performance by then-head coach Doug Marrone and replaced with QB Kyle Orton, who led the team to a 9-7 record – their first winning season in nearly a decade. But Orton retired after the season and Marrone opted out of his contract, and were replaced with former Pro Bowl QB Matt Cassel and former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan respectively.
