Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt are launching a double swoop for Premier League flops, according to reports from the Express, with moves for Chelsea winger Marko Marin and released Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner on the cards.
Marin has just returned to Stamford Bridge from a lukewarm loan spell with Sevilla in La Liga, where the former Werder Bremen man struggled to make a significant impact despite his club winning the 2014 Europa League.
The 25 year-old joined Chelsea from Bremen in 2012 but would make just six league appearances for the Blues, scoring once, before being deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho and being shipped out to Sevilla last summer.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach man will be keen to turn his career back around after his dream move turned into something of a nightmare, with a move back to Germany looking like the sensible option for Marin.
Bendtner, meanwhile, never lived up to the early hype that surrounded his emergence at Arsenal as a tall and skillful striker with limitless self-confidence.
He was brought to the club as a sixteen year-old and was quickly picked up on as one of the most talented players in the Gunners’ youth team, making his debut in 2005.
Despite a successful loan spell with Birmingham City, however, Bendtner was unable to ever truly establish himself as first choice under Arsene Wenger and his confidence quickly turned into something of a comedy arrogance, with his off-the-field antics taking centre stage.
The Danish international was released by the club this summer and a fresh start abroad would seem to the be the best option if Bendtner is going to get his career back on track.
Eintracht Frankfurt endured a disappointing season in the Bundesliga last year, narrowly avoiding relegation and also crashing out of the Europa League before the business end of the tournament.
