Benzema – seen by many as the missing piece in Arsene Wenger’s jigsaw – was odds-on to join the Gunners in August, but all the talk led to nothing as the striker stayed with Real Madrid.
Midfielder Cabaye was linked with the Gunners back when he was a Newcastle United player. He left the Magpies to join PSG in January 2014, but that did not stop the rumours.
Arsenal continued to be touted as ideal suitors for Cabaye, until he left the Ligue 1 champions to move to Crystal Palace in July this year.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid wing wizard Griezmann was reportedly on Arsenal’s radar in June, but his £43.5m asking price was seemingly too high for the Gunners.
