Italian international closing in on switch to Naples.
Cagliari defender Davide Astori is reportedly on the verge of securing a deal to Napoli with a fee in the region of €13m being agreed between the two clubs.
The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Sardinian club, and has become a regular part of Cesare Prandelli’s international squad over the years.
However, despite doubts over whether he is at an elite level, Napoli appear to be set to make him their latest signing according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
It is understood that a deal has been struck with the fee being around €13m-€15m, with performance related bonuses playing a factor in the eventual total.
Sky Sport Italia suggest that Astori has been offered a four-year contract with personal terms set to be discussed over the coming days as coach Rafa Benitez looks to reinforce his back-line.
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel had been linked with a move to Naples but his former coach now appears set to make Astori his latest signing of the summer after fears grew over the quality of the defensive options at his disposal.
The Spaniard will also be buoyed by the latest words of Juan Zuniga, with the Colombian ace revealing he has never once said he wanted to leave the club and is confident that the two parties can agree on an extension at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has played an integral part in the club’s rise of prominence over the past few years, but will be challenged by compatriot Pablo Armero on the left flank this season.
