Dugan has once again been caught drinking while injured.
Troubled Canberra Raiders star Josh Dugan and teammate Blake Ferguson have both been stood down by the club following an alcohol related incident in which police attended.
The pair have been stood down indefinitely for breaking numerous club policies and for not attending a mandatory rehab session following their 32-10 loss against the Penrith Panthers, according to Fox Sports.
Josh Dugan was injured in the disappointing game for the Raiders after suffering from a lip infection during the match lead up.
While the club investigating the matter further coach David Furner has supported the decision to stand the players down while they await punishment.
“The club has strong policies in place and breaches of these policies are taken very seriously,” Furner said.
“We have stood both Josh and Blake down for breaches of these policies and will determine punishment once we have concluded our investigations.”
The club will prepare for their round two clash against the Gold Coast Titans without the disgraced pair despite desperately needing a turn-around after a lacklustre opening round.
Both Dugan and Ferguson have a history of off-field incidents, including an example last season that saw Dugan stood down for drinking while injured.
The Canberra fullback apologised to fans over twitter and has said he urgently needs to sort out a larger off-field issue before he can move forward.
Coach Furner was disappointed that the incident has disrupted the clubs focus on football but has not commented on whether either player will be sacked following the incident.
“(Disappointment is) a bit of an understatement,” Furner said.
“I am disappointed, this is a proud club and we need to be putting wins on the board rather than be in the limelight for the wrong reasons.”
