Papalii allegedly threw a one litre bottle of moisturising cream at a fellow motorist in a road rage incident that occurred early last month.
Canberra Raiders back-rower Josh Papalii has been caught up in a somewhat bizarre road rage incident.
According to the Canberra Times, Papalii threw a one litre bottle of moisturising cream at another motorist after they took photos of his Nissan X-Trail after the Raiders man allegedly cut him off.
The motorist, Michael Tutalo, is demanding a public apology from Papalii along with compensation for the time it took to deal with the incident which occured on June 12.
”He was hurling abuse and he reached over and got something from his car and threw it at me, and it missed my head by inches because he aimed it at me,” Mr Tutalo told The Canberra Times.
”If that person was able to maliciously damage my vehicle and put my life at risk by throwing something at me, he can apologise in person.”
The Raiders agreed to pay for the damage to Tutalo’s car, but club CEO Don Furner said his list of demands were excessive.
“The legal advice was that is enough and that this guy is angling for more,” he said.
“Every time we offered to do what he asked, he moved and wanted something else.
“It didn’t seem feasible to have a big grandstand event in front of The Canberra Times for such a minor incident.
“It was a silly road-rage incident.”
Papalii has not been suspended from any NRL games and will play for the Raiders in their clash with the Storm on Saturday night at AAMI Park.
