Rising Star nominee Troy Menzel has signed a two-year contract extension with Carlton, taking him until the end of the 2016 season.
Menzel has been a revelation for the Blues, kicking the winning goal against West Coast in round six and earning a Rising Star nomination after a two-goal eight-mark performance in Carlton’s demolition of the Saints in round 16.
Carlton football operations manager Andrew McKay said he was delighted to see the youngster commit to the club.
“Troy has certainly been an exciting player to watch grow and develop – he’s still only 19 so we believe he has a very bright future ahead,” McKay said.
“He’s a creative player who has a natural ability to find the football, and he is also one of the emerging young leaders at our football club.
“Having Troy recommit to Carlton puts another of the building blocks in place that we believe will take our football club forward.”
The daring young forward was recruited to Carlton with pick no. 11 in the 2012 National Draft and made his debut in round 8, 2013 against Port Adelaide.
Menzel has since played 23 games, booting 30 goals.
