Manchester United appear to be in pole position to sign Nicolas Gaitan after Benfica reportedly dismissed Atletico Madrid’s player-plus-cash proposal.
Spanish publication AS claims that Atletico offered Benfica forward Angel Correa in part-exchange, but the Portuguese giants are not interested in any players being included as part of the deal.
Instead they would only be willing to sell Gaitan if a club was to meet their £21.5m asking price.

United have a long-standing interest in the Argentine winger and now manager Louis van Gaal finally wants to bring him to Old Trafford as part of a £200m spending spree, according to reports.
But Atletico remain keen on the 27-year-old, who has scored 25 goals in 151 games for Benfica, as they prepare for life without Arda Turan, and their negotiations with Benfica remain ongoing.
Turan is expected to join either Barcelona or Chelsea in the coming days.
