The French club may make a move for the disgraced star.
Catalan boss Laurent Frayssinous is eyeing up a move for disgraced ex-Cronulla Sharks star Todd Carney, he revealed.
Carney had his five-year contract with the NRL club ripped up last month after a vulgar photo was released in which the five-eighth appeared to be urinating in his own mouth.
Despite Carney’s poor off-field record, Frayssinous said Catalans would take the opportunity to speak to him when the opportunity arose in an attempt to bring the 28-year-old to the club.
“A lot of Super League teams will chase Todd Carney because he’s one of the best stand-offs in the world,” he told the Daily Star.
“We’ll take the option to talk to him when the right time arises.”
It is believed Carney was close to joining Catalans in 2011 after he was released by the Sydney Roosters due to an alcohol-related incident, though the French club passed up the opportunity by signing England five-eighth Leon Pryce.
