Italy international linked with switch to England this summer.
Italy coach Cesare Prandelli says he hopes Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi turns down interest from the Premier League this summer.
De Rossi, 29, had a troubled season with the capital club last year, with form and fitness leading to suggestions that he may finally part company with the club he has been with since he was a youth player.
Rumours have surfaced that the Giallorossi may want to remove his €6m after tax wages as they look to improve the squad after a disappointing season in Serie A last year.
However, Prandelli hopes that rumours of a move aren’t true, and that the Roman midfielder remains with the club he had been tipped to end his career with.
“I hope that Daniele stays at Roma,” Prandelli told RAI as reported by football-italia.net.
“I know what Daniele feels for the city of Rome and for Roma.
“If he left then it may be a defeat for him on a personal level, but on a professional level he could actually improve.”
De Rossi has been linked with a move to both Chelsea and Manchester City for a number of years, with talks intensifying that newly appointed Blues coach Jose Mourinho would like to make the Italian his first signing on his return to Stamford Bridge.
There is also interest from Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti rumoured be on his way to the Spanish capital, but there is yet to be any officials bids from any of the interested parties and it remains to be seen whether De Rossi heeds Prandelli’s advice.
