FC Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas says he has not yet spoken to either Arsenal or Manchester United regarding a transfer.
Manchester United and Arsenal have suffered a setback in their pursuit of FC Barcelona playmaker Cesc Fabregas.
The Spain international has long been linked with a return to the Premier League, having starred for the Gunners before returning to his home club, but has indicated a preference to stay at Camp Nou.
“People talk a lot but the truth is that no-one has spoken with me,” said Fabregas in the Daily Mirror.
“I want to triumph in Barcelona, that club is my home and I always dreamed of playing there, so I will try and succeed there as long as I can.”
Fabregas has been thought to be a top transfer target for David Moyes at Manchester United this summer, who has been handed the biggest transfer budget of his life at Old Trafford having scrimped by at Everton, whilst Arsenal have a highly enticing option of a buyback clause in their former skipper’s contract that means they could secure his signature for between £20m – £25m.
However, unless FC Barcelona elect to allow Fabregas to leave the club, it is hard to see this deal going ahead.
Fabregas’ 11 goals and 11 assists in 30 La Liga starts make him a hugely valuable asset at Camp Nou, and with the player not looking to leave either, Manchester United and Arsenal have it all to do to persuade both Barcelona and Fabregas to agree to a transfer.
