Ohio State Penn State preview
No. 16 Ohio State put together another blowout win as they defeated Illinois, 55-14. They took a 48-0 lead in the third quarter, so the Fighting Illini were fortunate that this game did not become worse.
Quarterback J.T. Barrett was solid as he threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns on 15-of-24 passing. Running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Curtis Samuel gashed the Illinois defense as they ran for 69 and 63 yards respectively on nine carries each.
Samuel added two rushing touchdowns to his performance, and the Buckeyes ran for a total of 296 rushing yards. Wide receiver Devin Smith caught three passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns.
For the Fighting Illini, quarterback Reilly O’Toole was abysmal as he threw for 58 yards and two interceptions before being benched for Aaron Bailey, who threw a touchdown pass with 79 yards.
Bailey also ran for 39 yards on 16 carries, which sadly led the team. Illinois was only able to muster a total of 243 yards throughout the game.
