Two of the hottest teams in college football face off in Week 10 as the TCU Horned Frogs head to Morgantown for a critical Big XII matchup with the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Both teams are coming off some of the biggest victories in school history since joining the Big XII several years ago – TCU dropped 82 points on Texas Tech several weeks after nearly upsetting Baylor and later thrashing Oklahoma State. West Virginia is two weeks removed from actually pulling off the home upset over Baylor and later thrashed Oklahoma State themselves. The two teams bring incredible offenses to the table with playmaking defenses that don’t always play lights out, but are capable of doing just enough to win.
TCU QB Trevone Boykin is coming off a record-setting performance against Texas Tech in which he threw for 433 yards and a school-record 7 TDs while leading the Horned Frogs to 785 yards of offense. The defense gave up a fair share of yards in that game (446) but forced 4 turnovers. The TCU offense is a virtual juggernaut, scoring above 40 points 5 out of 7 times this year and never going below 30 in any game.
The Mountaineers with QB Clint Trickett and WR Kevin White have formed the best passing combination in college football, with White going over 1,000 yards and recording 8 TDs while having every single game this season with over 100 yards receiving. That passing attack has helped West Virginia to 7 games with over 30 points scored and 3 games with 40 or more.
Prediction: TCU – As good as Trickett and White are for West Virginia, Boykin is playing on a Heisman trophy level for TCU right now, and even some of the best defenses in football have struggled to score or struggled to get a lead against that offense. And the defense isn’t too stingy either.
