No. 16 Ohio State won their fifth consecutive game and improved to 6-1 by defeating Penn State, 31-24, in double overtime. Quarterback J.T. Barrett noticeably struggled against the Nittany Lions as he was held to 74 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions on 12-of-19 passing.
However, he was able to rush for 75 yards and two touchdowns, and it has since been revealed that he sprained his MCL in the game but is still fine. Both of his rushing touchdowns came in overtime.
Running back Ezekiel Elliott performed well for the Buckeyes as he rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries.
Meanwhile, Illinois is coming off a minor upset victory over Minnesota. They improved to 4-4 as a result. Quarterback Reilly O’Toole came through for his team as he threw for 118 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 59 yards and a touchdown.
The Illini defense also stepped up as defensive back V’Angelo Bentley gave his team the lead with a fumble recovery touchdown that ultimately won the game.
However, the Buckeyes offense is sure to be an even tougher test than Minnesota. Look for Barrett to return to full form and lead the Buckeyes to another victory.
