No. 25 Wisconsin improved to 7-2 and ensured that they will stay in the top 25 as they defeated Purdue, 34-16, for their fourth win in a row.
The Badgers were once again led by running back Melvin Gordon, who rushed for 205 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. This makes his case for a Heisman Trophy even stronger. He also got involved in the passing game with three catches for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Joel Stave also performed well as he threw for 219 yards and two touchdown passes with one interception on 19-of-29 passing.
For the Boilermakers, quarterback Austin Appleby threw for 204 yards and a touchdown on 17-of-37 passing.
Running back Akeem Hunt was held to 12 rushing yards on nine carries, but he led the Boilermakers in receiving with five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.
The Boilermakers’ entire running game suffered as they were held to 26 rushing yards on 26 carries, and their defense wasn’t any better as Gordon continued to steamroll through the competition.
