The #7 Kansas State Wildcats go on the road for a top-1o showdown with Big XII rival the #6 TCU Horned Frogs in a game with major conference title and even College Football playoff implications.
Before the season started nobody really gave TCU a chance to be one of the best teams in the Big XII, but a big win over then-#4 Oklahoma followed by a close shootout loss to Baylor opened up everyone’s eyes as to how good this team could be. And the huge wins over #15 Oklahoma State, #20 West Virginia and a 82-27 blowout of Texas Tech helped a lot too. Now TCU is in a position where they don’t control their own destiny for the Big XII title, yet could still find themselves in the College Football playoffs if they win out and get some help.
Kansas State has also come out from almost nowhere to get to their 7-1 record with a 5-0 mark in the Big XII. While Kansas State’s road to the top 10 has not been quite as daunting as TCU’s, the offense has been great and has scored 40 points or more four times this season. The defense has managed to hold down the fort as well, only allowing 30 points or more once this season in an upset win over Oklahoma on the road. With a game against Baylor at the end of the season, Kansas State could win out and find themselves as the Big XII champions and in the College Football playoffs.
Prediction: Kansas State – This will be an incredibly close game, but road teams this year have had a habit of pulling the upset and the Wildcats may be the next team to do just that. Expect this game to come down to the final drive of the game with only one score separating the Wildcats from a win over the Horned Frogs.
