With no Big XII teams in the College Football playoff projects and no undefeated teams remaining, the only hope for Big XII representation is for one of the teams to win out. Right now Baylor, TCU and Kansas State look like the best bets as all three of them have impressive records and some equally impressive wins. Though Baylor and TCU have the far more impressive resumes, Kansas State has yet to play either of those teams, and beating both of them could secure them that 4th and final spot…. but only if one of the final four teams stumble.
Here are the picks for Week 11 of College Football:
#25 Wisconsin over Purdue – Melvin Gordon will be fed the ball a lot in this game as he tries to pad his stats for a potential Heisman trophy win.
#20 Georgia over Kentucky – The Bulldogs are going to be very angry after losing to Florida last week. Expect them to take out that frustration on a Kentucky team that has lost three straight SEC games.
#12 Baylor over #15 Oklahoma – It doesn’t matter how good of a coach Sooners HC Bob Stoops is, nobody can stop Bryce Petty once he gets his motor churning.
#11 Ole Miss over Presbyterian – Yawn. Bye week with a time limit. If Ole Miss doesn’t win by 50 they should be embarrassed.
Syracuse over #22 Duke – Going with the upset this week. This Syracuse team was able to cause a lot of turnovers against Notre Dame. Maybe they can repeat some of that magic against the 2nd best team in the ACC.
N.C. State over #24 Georgia Tech – Once again going with the ACC upset. N.C. State took FSU to the limit a while back, and back at home they should be able to overcome the Blue Devils.
#23 West Virginia over Texas – The Longhorns have a long way to go before becoming the dominating Big XII team we know them to be. West Virginia is pretty much already there – and they’ve only been in the conference for 2.5 years.
#3 Auburn over Texas A&M – The Tigers narrowly escaped Ole Miss’s great defense on the road. Now they have as much of a breather as they’ll have the rest of the way with a very vulnerable Aggies team with a weak defense and QB troubles.
#10 Notre Dame over #9 Arizona State – Fighting Irish QB Everett Golson is one of the most gifted QBs in football, and after a series of great performances against great teams it’s time for him to prove it by beating up one of the Pac-12’s best defenses.
#1 Mississippi State over Tenn-Martin – Once again, yawn. This should be a stat-padding game for Bulldogs QB Dak Prescott’s Heisman chances.
#2 Florida State over Virginia – Don’t be surprised if the Seminoles spot Virginia 10 to 17 points before roaring back and scoring the final 30.
#18 UCLA over Washington – The Bruins are itching for a rematch with Oregon for the Pac-12 title and if they beat Washington, all they need is one Sun Devils loss to virtually clinch a spot in the title game.
#7 Kansas State over #6 TCU – Going for the huge upset on this one, Kansas State will pull out the victory in a tightly fought contest and will be in hot pursuit of the Big XII title heading into their final game of the season against Baylor.
#19 Arizona over Colorado – Arizona won’t see a whole lot of movement in the top-25 standings with a win over Pac-12 punching bag Colorado, but if Arizona State loses to Notre Dame, they could see some movement in the standings.
#8 Michigan State over #14 Ohio State – The Spartans have been on a tear in the Big-10, with their only loss of the season coming to Oregon. Teams like Ohio State, even if they are some of the best at what they do, play directly to the Spartans strengths.
#5 Alabama over #16 LSU – The Crimson Tide are on the outside looking in on the College Football playoffs with only one or possibly two spots opening up this week if upsets occur. But nothing motivates the Crimson Tide to dominate an opponent quite like being so-close, yet so far away.
#4 Oregon over #17 Utah – The Ducks have arguably the most NFL-ready QB still in college football. Outside of a narrow loss to Arizona, QB Marcus Mariotta has been unstoppable and a win over the last ranked team on the schedule will all but guarantee Oregon’s trip to the College Football playoffs.
