The #3 Florida State Seminoles put their 25-game undefeated streak on the line against the Miami Hurricanes, a team with a long history of ending undefeated runs, in Week 12 of College Football.
Since winning the ACC Championship in 2012, the Florida State Seminoles have been undefeated through two conference titles, an Orange Bowl win in 2013, a Heisman trophy win for QB Jameis Winston and a National Championship win in 2014. The Seminoles are undoubtedly the beneficiaries of a weak schedule with almost none of their ACC counterparts offering any kind of resistance against teams in the other four power conferences, but they have gotten away with the win against several ranked teams: Clemson, Notre Dame, and Louisville, but the team has kept games a little too close for comfort with three of those wins coming by less than a score. Regardless, Jameis Winston is still considered the best pocket passing QB in college football, and with a skillset like that, no lead is safe against him.
The Miami Hurricanes are not nearly as dominant as the Hurricanes that were perennial trap games for undefeated teams in the 1980s and 90s, but the Canes are not a team to be taken lightly as RB Duke Johnson leads the team with 1,213 yards and a 7.8 yards/carry average. Johnson will be a major force for the Hurricanes as they try to upset their hated rivals.
Prediction: Florida State – As good as Miami may be, Jameis Winston is arguably the best thrower in the nation. And with his impeccable pocket awareness and the degree of difficulty taking him down in the backfield, no Miami lead will be safe against them. Expect the Seminoles to spot Miami 14-17 points before taking over the game in the 4th quarter and avoiding the upset yet again.
