The Ohio State Buckeyes held on for a 31-24 victory over the Minnesota Gophers to improve to 9-1 and keep their playoff hopes alive.

No. 8 Ohio State kept their national championship hopes alive with a 31-24 victory against No. 25 Minnesota on the road. The Buckeyes took a 31-14 lead in the fourth quarter, and they held on even though the Gophers scored 10 unanswered points.
After the Gophers trimmed the lead to seven with just over a minute remaining, they attempted an onside kick that was recovered by the Buckeyes.
Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett made an even bigger case to become a finalist for the Heisman Trophy by throwing for 200 yards with three touchdown passes and an interception, and he rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
Running back Ezekiel Elliott also had a solid performance as he ran for 91 yards on 18 carries.
For the Gophers, quarterback Mitch Leidner was held to 85 yards and two interceptions. Running back David Cobb carried the Gophers offense on his back with 145 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries.
Tight end Maxx Williams caught three passes for 47 yards, but the rest of the Minnesota passing game was quiet.
