Arizona State Notre Dame preview
No. 18 Notre Dame received their second loss of the season against No. 6 Arizona State as they were blown out, 55-31. The Sun Devils held a 34-3 lead in the second quarter, but the Fighting Irish scored 28 unanswered points.
However, the Sun Devils scored 21 unanswered points in the final five minutes of the game to pull away and improve to 8-1.
The Fighting Irish have been hurting on defense since linebacker Joe Schmidt went down with a fractured and dislocated ankle against Navy.
Quarterback Everett Golson did not help matters either as he threw four interceptions against Arizona State, and he now has 11 interceptions on the season.
Meanwhile, Northwestern is coming off their fourth consecutive loss after falling, 10-9, against Michigan. They once looked like a sneaky Big Ten contender after improving to 3-2 with an upset win over Wisconsin, but they have since become an afterthought.
They appear headed for a fifth consecutive loss since the Fighting Irish have significantly better talent.
Wildcats quarterback Trevor Siemian won’t be able to hang in a shootout. He has not thrown more than one touchdown pass in a single game this season while throwing more interceptions than touchdowns.
Prediction: Notre Dame 35, Northwestern 17
