Arizona State Notre Dame preview
No. 6 Arizona State suddenly found themselves in the national championship picture following a 55-31 victory against No. 18 Notre Dame, who was ranked 10th at the time.
They led the Fighting Irish, 34-3, before allowing 28 unanswered points. They held off the rally and scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Taylor Kelly threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns and one interception on 17-of-28 passing to hush whispers of a potential quarterback controversy between him and Mike Bercovici.
Running back D.J. Foster got back on track by rushing for 120 yards on 21 carries, and Demario Richard added another 50 yards and a touchdown.
The Sun Devils will look to stay in the national title hunt as they face Oregon State, who is coming off their fourth consecutive loss.
The Beavers suffered an upset loss to Pac-12 doormat Washington State, and they are now fighting to stay in contention for a bowl game. Quarterback Sean Mannion threw for 419 yards on 31-of-41 passing, but he only threw one touchdown pass.
The Sun Devils offense will ultimately be too much for the Beavers, and their defense has come on strong in the past four games with just 16.8 points allowed per game.
Prediction: Arizona State 34, Oregon State 20
