The Florida State Seminoles have not lost a game since 2012. In that time they’ve won two ACC championships, the Orange Bowl and a National championship. But in 2014 the Seminoles have made a habit this season out of making comebacks and keeping games close with 4 of their 9 wins by only a single score.
Now Florida State and QB Jameis Winston play a Miami Hurricans team that looks like just another “W” on paper, but has a storied history of ending undefeated steaks dating back to the 1980s and even the late 90s. The Hurricanes are riding a 3-game winning streak in which they’ve outscored ACC rivals 132-60, with each win coming by at least 20 points. Of all the teams that could possibly end the Seminoles undefeated streak, the Hurricanes could be the team that finally ends the streak.
Here are the picks for Week 12 of the College Football season:
#19 Clemson over #22 Georgia Tech – The Tigers only two losses were against powerhouse Georgia and a late collapse against Florida State. Beyond that, Clemson has been a dominant team and Georgia Tech has kept things way too close in their own stadium.
#21 Duke over Virginia Tech – It seems like an eternity ago that Virginia Tech beat Ohio State. Now they’re riding a 3-game losing streak against a Duke team that’s only allowed 20 points or more twice. Easy call here.
#8 Ohio State over #25 Minnesota – The Golden Gophers have been quite the story this season with their 7-2 record and best winning percentage in decades. But Ohio State is a team with a mission: Win the Big 10 title again and get into the College Football playoffs. Minnesota is just another obstacle for the Buckeyes to overcome.
#4 TCU over Kansas – The best team in the Big XII takes on the worst team in the Big XII. Barring someone locking the doors to the TCU locker room, the Horned Frogs should run all over Kansas.
#16 Nebraska over #20 Wisconsin – A battle between the two best RBs in the Big Ten gets underway as Nebraska’s Ameer Abdullah faces off against Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon. The winner of this game will be in the fast lane for the Big Ten West division title.
#18 Notre Dame over Northwestern – The Fighting Irish didn’t put up much of a fight against Arizona State, but Northwestern hasn’t put up much of a fight against anyone. Look for QB Everett Golson to put on an aerial show against Northwestern.
#14 Arizona over Washington – The Huskies are 3-1 on the road this year, but one of those wins have come against ranked teams. The Wildcats, meanwhile, have crushed all but two of their opponents this year.
#5 Alabama over #1 Mississippi State – The big upset of the week. Alabama is back on track since losing to Ole Miss. Today they get their revenge in Tuscaloosa against the state that robbed them of their top 4 ranking.
Stanford over #23 Utah – Sooner or later you have to imagine a head coach like David Shaw can get the Cardinals back on track. Utah may be the last team that they can make an impression against.
#9 Auburn over #15 Georgia – Todd Gurley or no Todd Gurley, the Bulldogs will struggle mightily against the Auburn Tigers coming off a close loss that knocked them out of the College Football playoffs.
#24 Texas A&M over Missouri – Speaking of SEC West domination. Aggies QB Kyle Allen gets another chance to show the world that he is for real in his first home game against an SEC team.
#3 Florida State over Miami – The Hurricanes have a long history of breaking undefeated streaks, but this is a new age and Jameis Winston is unlike almost any QB Miami has ever faced before. There will be no upset this week.
#12 Michigan State over Maryland – The Terps could not have picked a worse time to be hosting the Spartans: Coming off a loss that knocked them out of the Big 10 title picture for the time being and knocked them out of the College Football Playoffs for certain.
Arkansas over #17 LSU – A bit of a minor upset here. Arkansas has played good football against the SEC and great football against everyone else. With a home game against the Tigers, Arkansas might finally get that first conference win.
#6 Arizona State over Oregon State – The Beavers have given up 29 points or more to each of the six Pac-12 team they’ve played this year. They’ve only passed that mark themselves in three of them.
