No. 11 Michigan State recovered from a home loss to No. 6 Ohio State as they demolished Maryland, 37-15, at home. Running back Jeremy Langford led the way with 138 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. They will look to improve to 9-2 with a win over Rutgers.
Quarterback Connor Cook had a forgettable performance as he threw for 240 yards but was held without a touchdown pass. However, he did not turn the ball over.
The Michigan State defense was able to come up with four turnovers of their own though, including a pick-six by safety R.J. Williamson.
Meanwhile, Rutgers is coming off a 45-23 win over Indiana, who still has yet to win a Big Ten matchup. The Scarlet Knights pulled away in the fourth quarter with 14 unanswered points.
Quarterback Gary Nova threw two touchdown passes, and running back Josh Hicks ran for 114 yards and a touchdown while Robert Martin added 83 yards and three touchdowns.
The Scarlet Knights became bowl eligible with their win as they are now 6-4, but they will face a tough challenge in Michigan State. Allowing 56 points to Ohio State and 42 to Nebraska does not bode well for their chances.
Prediction: Michigan State 45, Rutgers 17
