The Missouri Tigers defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 21-14 in Week 14 of college football to clinch their second straight SEC East title.
The Razorbacks took an early lead with a TD from QB Brandon Allen to Jonathan Williams in the first quarter. Missouri answered with a FG early in the 2nd quarter to make the game 7-3, but the Razorbacks responded with another TD to give them a 14-3 lead. The Tigers managed to cut the deficit with another FG from PK Andrew Baggett to finish the first half 14-6.
A scoreless 3rd quarter put the Tigers in a precarious position, but Missouri QB Maty Mauk answered with a long drive that culminated in a TD to Jimmy Hunt. Down eight, Missouri went for the 2-point conversion and succeeded on an end-around fake run that resulted in a pass from WR Bud Sasser to Darius White to make the game tied at 14-14. The Tigers defense held up and kept Brandon Allen below 45% passing on the day, giving them the ball back with only minutes remaining. With 5:22 left in the game, Tigers RB Marcus Murphy ran in for a 12-yard TD to give Missouri the 21-14 lead. Once again, the defense held, forcing a fumble by the Razorbacks with only a few minutes to play, giving the Tigers the win.
By virtue of winning, the Missouri Tigers clinched the SEC East division title, their second straight, and will face either Alabama or Mississippi State for the SEC Championship next week. Last year Missouri lost to Auburn.
