Not even Baylor QB Bryce Petty’s epic comeback win over TCU could wipe the stain of a loss to West Virginia off in the CFP polls.

The latest College Football Playoff poll was released and plenty of controversy came along with it with TCU being ranked #3 ahead of Florida State, which was ranked #4, and Baylor, the only team to beat TCU this season, being ranked #6.
In a curious move by the CFP Selection Committee, the undefeated Florida State Seminoles, the defending National Champions who have not lost a game in two years, were ranked behind TCU – a one-loss team that has a loss against Baylor. The move most likely comes from TCU’s dominance in just about every game except the Baylor loss and a close win over Kansas. Baylor and Ohio State are more interesting cases. Both lost to unranked teams – Baylor to West Virginia and Ohio State to Virginia Tech, but rebounded and are now close to securing conference championships (or a piece of it at least if both Baylor and TCU win this weekend).
Nonetheless, the move to rank TCU at #3 has been highly criticized and poses the question as to just how far the only undefeated team in the FBS can fall if FSU only narrowly wins their ACC Championship game this week.
