The North Dakota State Bison defeated the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 39-32 to advance to the FCS Semi-Finals. Bison RB John Crockett scored first and he scored last to bring them one step closer to their 4th straight FCS Championship.
Crockett scored his first TD on a 70-yard run early in the 1st quarter, and the Bison scored a 2nd TD only a few minutes later to give them a 14-3 lead, but the Chanticleers scored on a 4-yard TD run to cut the score to 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. After giving up a FG to the Bison in the 2nd quarter, Coastal Carolina responded with a 98-yard kickoff returned for the TD from Devin Brown to tie the game up at 17-17. After a TD pass from Bison QB Carson Wentz to receiver Luke Albers, the Bison went into halftime up 24-20.
In the second half the Bison pulled ahead briefly with another TD from Wentz on a 2-yard run to give them a 31-20 lead, but Coastal Carolina shocked everyone by mounting two TD drives to give them a 32-31 lead early in the 4th quarter. But with 9:28 left in the game, the Bison scored the game-winning TD on a 45-yard run from John Crockett to give them the 39-32 edge and win the game.
With the win the Bison advance to the FCS Semi-Finals and will host the Sam Houston State Bearkats next week.
